The case against Edward Zavala, 37, was presented to the DA last week and the felony count was filed against him, said Glendora Police Sgt. Marty Amaro in an email provided to GCN.

Zavala pleaded not guilty in court July 30 to the felony charge, said Sarah Ardalani of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

On July 28, a Glendora Patrol officer Arrested Zavala after witnessing him igniting a fire at the base of the abandoned Flagg Gasoline station, 1861 E. Route 66. Officers also found lighters in Zavala’s possession, police said.

Zavala is being held in lieu of $100,000 at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. His next scheduled court appearance is a pre-preliminary hearing at the West Covina Courthouse August 20, Ardalani said.
