A Glendora Police officer ran uphill after a fleeing car theft suspect Monday afternoon after the suspect crashed into another vehicle.

The suspect, 19-year-old Carlos Davila of Covina, inflicted minor injuries to the other driver after causing the collision in the 600 block of South Lone Hill Avenue around 12:08 p.m. Davila escaped his stolen vehicle on foot.

As police arrived, eyewitnesses reported Davila fled southbound on Lone Hill then westbound into a track of homes, said Sgt. Mike Henderson of Glendora Police.

Responding officer Al Ancheta found the suspect fleeing up the hillside west of the 1800 block of East Deserta Drive.

Ancheta caught the suspect in the 1500 block of Canyon Meadows Lane, held him at gunpoint and waited for backup to help take Davila into custody.

Police discovered the vehicle Davila was driving was reported stolen out of Azusa, Henderson said.

Davila was booked on suspicion of vehicle theft and hit and run causing injury. He is being held in lieu of $50,000.
