An 86-year-old woman was hospitalized Thursday after a man described as a transient punched her in the head, knocking her to the ground.
The attack happened in the 1400 block of East Route 66 around 1:30 p.m. The suspect punched the woman in the face. She sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized, said Lt. Scott Strong of Glendora Police.
Officers located the suspect near the railroad tracks north of the Eden Garden Cafe and arrested him, Strong said.
“It was completely random. They don’t know each other, nothing was said. He just punched her in the face,” Strong said.
Nothing was stolen from the woman and there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs in the suspect’s system, Strong said.
Arrested was 28-year-old Jacob Moss. He was booked on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury and inflicting bodily harm. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Moss is scheduled to appear at the West Covina Courthouse December 7, according to county booking records.
