The Glendora Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will be accepting unused, unwanted or expired medication this Saturday.
Residents can turn in their unused medication free and anonymously from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Glendora Police Department, 150 S. Glendora Ave. April 30. Pills and patches will be accepted. Liquids, sharps and needles will not be accepted.
Events such as these address a public health issue of medication misuse and abuse, Glendora Police said in a written statement. Accidental poisonings, overdoses and drug abuse rates continue to be high.
Last September, Americans surrendered 350 tons of prescription drugs at more than 5,000 drug take back events operated by the DEA in partnership with more than 3,800 law enforcement agencies, police said.
