Police are investigating a bold burglary at Royal Oak Middle School in which cameras were taken in the nighttime crime.
An unknown number of burglars caused extensive damage to the administration building’s Associated Student Body office, the library, a supply room and a classroom, a district official said.
The break-in reportedly took place Wednesday, October 21 between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. at the school, 303 S. Glendora Ave. School video equipment was taken.
There is no estimated value regarding the loss, but at least 12 cameras, camera lenses and other equipment were stolen, said Kathy Perkins, chief business officer for the Charter Oak Unified School District.
The equipment was used in the TV Media program led by teacher Scott York.
Photos posted on the Royal Oak Middle School Facebook page show some of the destruction.
A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered. Anyone with information on the crime is being asked to call WE TIP at 1-800-78-CRIME.
