If the recent parking restrictions in Azusa are leaving you frustrated, the Glendora Gold Line Shuttle can provide some relief.
The shuttle, which picks up peak a.m. and peak p.m. riders from the Village’s Transit Plaza and the Teen Center, has run for five weeks to and from the Azusa Downtown Station and saw an increase in ridership, mainly at the Teen Center.
There is plenty of parking available at both sites for peak riders, said Justine Garcia, transportation programs analyst for Glendora.
“We are expecting that ridership will continue to grow as more individuals become aware of the service,” Garcia said. “We are excited to see a handful of our residents walking to shuttle stops and encourage Glendora residents within the shuttle stop areas to keep doing so.”
April
In April, 272 riders took the Gold Line Shuttle during the month at the Transit Plaza, with 136 peak a.m. riders and the same number for peak p.m. hours, averaging to 1.94 passengers per revenue hour.
Only 94 riders used the shuttle at the Teen Center location during April, with 51 passengers in peak a.m. hours and 43 during peak p.m. hours, averaging to .67 passengers per revenue hour, Garcia said.
May
In the first full six days of May, 97 riders used the shuttle at the Transit Plaza, with 51 peak a.m. rider and 43 peak p.m. riders, averaging to 2.31 passengers per revenue hour.
The Teen Center location saw 85 passengers in the first six days of May, with 47 riders during peak a.m. hours and 38 peak p.m. riders, averaging to 2.02 passengers per revenue hour, Garcia said.
Shuttle fare is $.50 cents per boarding and can be paid with exact change, or with paper tickets, which can be purchased in booklets from the shuttle driver or at the transportation center, 401 E. Dalton Ave.
Shuttles run every 30 minutes during peak a.m. and p.m. hours.
North Route parking is located just north of Foothill Boulevard off of Cullen and Mountain View avenues with approximately 59 spaces available on a first come, first serve basis.
South Route parking is located west of the tennis courts at the Crowther Teen and Family Center with 98 spaces available on a first come, first serve basis.
No permits are required for parking. Each shuttle is equipped with a rack that can hold two bicycles.
