The nomination period is open in for those wishing to run in the March 2017 Glendora City Council election.
The March 2017 election will have two city council positions on the ballot. The nomination period will take place between November 14, 2016 through December 9, 2016.
Current Mayor Gene Murabito and Council Member Karen Davis are both up for reelection and have officially pulled papers to run again.

CITY OF GLENDORA MUNICIPAL ELECTION
The following information is intended as a general introduction to the election process for residents who have expressed an interest in running for City Council in the City of Glendora. This information is not inclusive and is not offered as legal advice.
It is strongly encouraged that candidates contact the FPPC, Attorney General, Secretary of State or other legal counsel with any questions regarding their candidacy.
ELECTION DATE
General Municipal Elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in March of odd-numbered years.
The City’s next election will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. Two (2) City Council seats will be open and each is for a four-year term.
RUNNING FOR OFFICE
To run for office, candidates must be a resident of Glendora, a Glendora registered voter and otherwise qualified to vote at the time nomination papers are issued.
A nomination petition must be signed by not less than 20, nor more than 30, registered Glendora voters. A voter may sign as many nomination papers as there are seats to be filled. In this election there are two seats to be filled. The nomination period for this election is November 14, 2016 through December 9, 2016, 5:00 p.m.
CANDIDATE FILING FEES
There is no cost to “pull or file” nomination papers. Candidates that choose to have a candidate statement printed in the sample ballot pay for printing and translation the statement into English and Spanish, which is estimated to cost $1600.
If a candidate wishes to have their statement printed in additional languages, estimated cost is $400 for each additional language.
FAIR POLITICAL PRACTICES COMMISSION (FPPC)
Candidates are subject to the provisions of the Political Reform Act, which is administered and interpreted by the FPPC. In complying with the Act, candidates are required to disclose their economic interests and financial campaign information. All forms are provided by the City Clerk and are available online at www.fppc.ca.gov
STATEMENT OF ECONOMIC INTERESTS
To ensure disclosure of candidates’ financial interests, all candidates are required to file Form 700, Statement of Economic Interests, at the time they file their nomination papers.
CAMPAIGN STATEMENTS
Candidates are required to maintain and file with the City Clerk an accounting of the financial activities of their campaigns by designated due dates. Filings typically include:
v Form 501 – Candidate Intention Statement. Must be filed with the City Clerk before soliciting or receiving any contributions from others or before making expenditures.
v Form 410 – Statement of Organization, Recipient Committee. Original must be filed with the Secretary of State ($50 annual fee), with a copy to the City Clerk’s office within ten (10) days of receiving $2,000 in contributions.
v Form 460 – Recipient Committee Campaign Statement. Used by candidates who raise and spend over $2,000 during their campaign.
v Form 470 – Office Holder and Candidate Campaign Statement (Short Form). Used by candidates who do not anticipate receiving contributions or spending more than $2,000 during the calendar year.
v Form 496 – 24-Hour Independent Expenditure Report. Candidates that receive contributions or make late expenditures of $1,000 or more during the 90 days immediately prior to the election date must file the applicable report.
