Law enforcement from around the country, retired and active, including a former Glendora lieutenant joined thousands of New York Police officers paid their respects to a fallen New York Police Officer killed in the line of duty.

Retired lieutenant and current Glendora Emergency Services Manager Jamie Caldwell joined the California delegation of law enforcement representatives in the funeral procession for slain NYPD officer Wenjian Liu.

Caldwell and other officers flew to New York free of charge, courtesy of JetBlue.

“Having been in law enforcement for almost 30 years this murderous act hit hard. Two officers who had nothing to do with the controversy surrounding other officers were gunned down in cold blood just for wearing the uniform,” Caldwell said.

Caldwell’s daughter, a JetBlue flight attendant, joined him to pay her respects.

Liu, 32, was shot along with fellow officer Rafael Ramos while they sat in a marked patrol car in Brooklyn Dec. 20. The gunman, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, killed himself with the same gun after fleeing NYPD officers on foot.
