A local group of car enthusiasts were not about to let a burglary keep Badillo Elementary School down.
The Purist Group, a collection of car enthusiasts who help members of the community when in need, pitched in and organized a car show to collect donations for the affected Kinder program, replacing the tricycles stolen. They also collected balls, hula hoops, tricycles, scooters, leap frog tablets and more.
The burglary happened a few weeks ago.
Teacher Rosanna Villalobos reached out to social media for help. Villalobos’ cousin asked friend Sean Lee, Purist Group founder, to help and other group members eventually pitched in, said Badillo Elementary Principal Lori Drake in a written statement.
A Badillo kinder father, a Purist Group member, is also a district representative for State Senator Bob Huff and told Drake of the Purist Group’s generous efforts.
The donations were given out at the school’s Friday Spirit Assembly, January 29. Senator Huff was also in attendance.
“Staff and students were overwhelmed with the generosity of the Purist [Group] and extremely thankful for their help,” Drake said. “Mr. Lee shared that he does this because he loves seeing smiles on students’ faces. Believe me, there were a lot of smiling faces at Badillo.”
