Glendora detectives are investigating two commercial break-ins at city restaurants Sunday.

Both Petrillo’s, 750 W. Route 66 unit A, and Sanyo Sushi, 750 W. Route 66 unit D, were burglarized after 4 a.m. Small amounts of cash were taken in the window-smash burglaries, police said.

Officers were dispatched at 4:11 a.m. after receiving an alarm activation call.

Police were not willing to disclose the amount of cash taken. A description of suspects and a getaway vehicle were not immediately available, said Lt. Matt Williams of Glendora Police.

Azusa and Monrovia experienced similar restaurant burglaries Sunday morning.

Azusa Police responded to a burglary alarm activation at La Tolteca, 429 N. Azusa Ave., just before 3:30 a.m., said Sgt. John Madaloni of Azusa Police.

The multiple suspects pried open the front door to La Tolteca, stole cash, causing extensive damage to the front door and an interior office door, Madaloni said.

Azusa police notified Glendora after learning the restaurant break-ins happened in a similar fashion, with multiple suspects fleeing in a dark-colored SUV, Madaloni said, adding the break-ins might be related due to the tight time window and similar methods of operation.

Lt. Nick Manfredi of Monrovia Police did not have information readily available.
