City officials announced Tuesday that Marshalls, the retail clothing chain, will join Sprouts Farmers Market grocery store as part of several new planned locations where Ralphs once stood.
Both stores will co-anchor themselves at the new shopping center after local developer Champion Real Estate Company acquired the property at the southwest corner of Grand Avenue and Route 66. Plans for development were approved in March, according to city officials in a written statement.
The initial phase of the project is under way with a target completion date of June 2017.
The “grocery-anchored retail center” will require the re-configuring of the current 85,615 square-foot building into a smaller 70,500 square-foot shopping center. The new building will be designed with two retail pads and additional supporting retail to expand the tenant base, according to Champion Real Estate.
“We are pleased with the commitment demonstrated by Champion along with their ability to procure two national tenants,” said Glendora City Manager Chris Jeffers. “The investment confirms that Glendora continues to be a strong and favorable community to conduct business.”
Champion Real Estate also intends to add additional retailers and quick-serve restaurants to the remaining shop space.
