Damaging winds are whipping the Los Angeles County area and will continue to do so until late Sunday afternoon.
The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for the area, which started yesterday, and will remain in effect until 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, the National Weather Service Reported.
Wind gusts in the valleys are expected to be between 35 and 50 miles per hour Saturday, with gusts possibly as high as 55 miles per hour in the mountains, with winds expected to be strongest in the foothills and below passes and canyons. The winds are expected to die down by Sunday afternoon.
The high winds combined with very low humidities will cause an increased fire danger for the area today and tonight, the NWS reported.
Looking forward, once the winds diminish by Sunday, a 30 percent chance for showers will move in by Monday morning and continue through to Tuesday night.
