Perfect weather along with a few hundred attendees greeted our veterans at the 10th Annual ‘Saluting Our Veterans’ ceremony at Citrus College on Thursday.
With students off on November 11 for the Veterans Holiday, Citrus College put on its ceremony early to ensure the acknowledgment many student veterans deserve.

The ceremony was a hit with many heartfelt speeches and numerous applause outbursts that were sure to remind those who have served just how much the community and school appreciate their sacrifice.
The nearly two hour event, loaded with speakers, live musical entertainment and a 21 gun salute, took place in the Citrus College Campus Center. In addition to students on campus who lined the crowd, hundreds of residents and city officials were on hand from both Glendora and Azusa.
Citrus College Superintendent Dr. Geraldine Perri took the opportunity to welcome everyone to the school and highlight the importance of not only the service of these veterans, but also the programs that support them upon their return.

“Citrus College is proud to both honor and support those who have so bravely served our country. As an educational institution, the college takes great pride in providing a welcoming and supportive learning environment in which our student veterans can thrive. We are extremely pleased to be recognized by GI Jobs Magazine for a 6th consecutive year as a Military Friendly institution in the nation”, Perri told GCN.
Vice President of Student Services, Dr. Martha McDonald, introduced keynote speakers Elizabeth Saucedo and Baron Cheng who are former Citrus students and continue to actively participate in the Veterans Center on Campus. Both used their speeches to give thanks to the crowd for support and more importantly give thanks to their fellow veterans for understanding their difficult times.
Citrus faculty member Stephen O’Hara led the ceremonies with Dr. Bruce Solheim presenting student scholarships to a number of student veterans in attendance.
Company B-The Andrews Sisters Tribute puts on a show
Musical entertainment was provided by Company B-The Andrews Sisters Tribute, Gladstone High School Marching Band and Night Shift who are a Citrus College Pop Rock Ensemble.
