No victims were found in a vehicle over the side spotted late Monday morning on Glendora Mountain Road.
A tactical medic was lowered to the 2016 Honda Accord and a paratech axe was used to gain entry, but no one was found in or near the car, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The Accord was found near mile marker 6, said Officer Michelle Bond of the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Management Center.
Deputies were dispatched to the vehicle over the side around 11:16 a.m. after a private aircraft spotted the car and alerted a Sheriff’s air unit, said Lt. Thomas Reid of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station.
The Accord was later determined to be stolen out of Whittier that same day, Reid said.
“We don’t know if it was pushed over the side, or driven, but there was no evidence of any injuries or any bodies,” Reid said.
The San Dimas Search and Rescue team had also responded, but did not descend the mountainside.
Recovery of the vehicle may not take place until Wednesday, Bond said.
