The plumber accused of attacking a Glendora officer by allegedly using his work van to collide with the officer’s patrol car then engaging in a physical fight is due back in court next month.
Miguel Arredondo, 30, pleaded not guilty February 19 to one felony count of assault upon a peace officer, one felony count of battery with injury upon a peace officer and two felony counts of resisting an executive officer, said Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The reported unprovoked attack occurred February 17 on Gladstone Street east of Sunflower Avenue. Arredondo, in his Rite-Away Plumbers van, spotted the officer who was en route to a call and began following him westbound on Gladstone, police said.
Arredondo allegedly tried to ram the officer in his patrol car. After the officer stopped, Arredondo attempted to open the officer’s driver side door. The officer finally exited the patrol car through the passenger door and the men engaged in a physical altercation, police said.
Backup officers then subdued Arredondo with a stun gun.
It is not immediately known what provoked Arredondo to attack the officer.
Arredondo is scheduled for another appearance at the West Covina Courthouse March 9, Santiago said.
