The man accused of striking and killing a pedestrian in Whittier March 19 walked into the Glendora Police Department and turned himself in Tuesday.
Randy Marquez, 30, turned himself at 4:40 p.m. March 22, Glendora Police said.
Marquez is identified as a person of interest in the fatal hit and run. He was transported to the Whittier Police Department and booked on suspicion of felony hit and run and placed on a parole hold, according to a written statement by the Whittier Police Department.
A white truck identified in the collision was located unoccupied with hit and run damage in the 2200 block of Ruiz Place in Hacienda Heights March 20. An older white Toyota pickup was seen striking the male pedestrian, Whittier Police said.
The truck was northbound on Pickering Avenue approaching Hadley Street in Whittier when the suspect struck the pedestrian, identified as a man in his 50s, and did not stop, Whittier Police said.
Local media outlets identified the victim as 58-year-old Victor Gallegos.
Marquez is being held without bail. Court date information was not readily available.
