BREAKING NEWS: City Raises Alert Status To Yellow

The City of Glendora has just announced that the Colby Alert Status has been raised to yellow ahead of a powerful storm forecasters said would bring periods of heavy rain possibly starting late Thursday.

• No evacuation orders in effect.
• Rain-related parking restrictions in effect.
• Residents directed to remove vehicles, trash bins and other obstructions from streets and/or travel lanes as they will be subject to tow or removal by authorities.
• No restricted entry to impact area/potentially impacted areas.

This storm could generate a 4-to-6-hour period of moderate to heavy rainfall late Thursday and into Friday with 2 to 4 inches of rain possible in the mountains and foothills. Heavy winds are expected to accompany this storm. Brief, heavy downpours are possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms are possible, along with small hail and wind gusts for the valleys between 35 to 50 miles per hour.

The unstable cold front bringing this storm could keep rain falling into Friday evening.

Glendora officials have stated previously that rainfall rates at and above one-half inches per hour greatly increase the threat of mudslides; this next storm could bring rainfall rates of one-half to three-quarters of an inch per hour, the NWS said.

Weather officials are contemplating issuing a flash flood warning for recent burn areas.

City officials stated that the alert status would be upgraded to orange and possibly red.
