The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning Monday, effective through Thursday, August 18 as a heatwave continues to create high fire conditions across the region.
The red flag warning is in effect for Los Angeles and Ventura County mountains and the Antelope Valley. All other areas are experiencing elevated fire danger through Thursday.
Gusty south southwest winds will blow over Los Angeles and Ventura counties, with gusts possibly as high as 35 miles per hour, according to the NWS.
Conditions will be very dry across the area, with relative humidities between three and 10 percent.
If fire ignition occurs, rapid fire growth is expected with extreme fire behavior.
