Police are still investigating a robbery that took place Sunday evening at a phone store on Grand Avenue.
The suspect simulated a handgun and was able to take cash and multiple iPhones from the Verizon We R Wireless store, 650 S. Grand Ave., around 6:38 p.m. One employee was inside the store at the time, said. Lt. Rob Lamborghini of Glendora Police.
GCN Founder Zak Bushey spoke with the store manager and also spoke with the employee who was confronted by the armed suspect.
According to the store’s manager who did not want to be identified, the suspect stole a reported $238 from a register and approximately 20 iPhones were taken from a safe.
The store was already closed for the night when the suspect approached the entrance with a duffle bag in tow. The employee opened the door for the Black male suspect, who wore a long wig, sunglasses and a white bucket hat, according to the employee who did not want to be identified.
The suspect lifted up his shirt to display what the employee believed to be the handle of a weapon. He ordered the employee to a register where the cash was relinquished. The suspect then ordered the victim to open the safe in a rear office and to get down on the floor.
Once opened, the suspect stole the iPhones and stuffed them in his duffle bag, the employee said.
The suspect fled out a rear door. It is not immediately known if he drove away after fleeing on foot.
