A man has been detained after threatening to jump onto the Interstate 210 freeway Wednesday morning.
The 23-year-old man was detained by police on the Barranca Avenue overpass to the eastbound 210 freeway after being coaxed down from the top of a chain link fence by officers, said Lt. Scott Strong of Glendora Police.
The man called police to the freeway overpass around 1:10 a.m.
“He called us seeking help. He was very agitated, threatening to kill himself,” Strong said.
The man was detained around 1:30 a.m.
Los Angeles County firefighters responded to the scene to assist, but were called off by officers once the subject was detained, according to firefighter broadcast traffic.
A Sig Alert was briefly issued by the CHP with all lanes shut down, but the Sig Alert has since been cancelled.
The man will be taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation, Strong said.
